What really sets Campsurf apart from other Los Angeles surf schools are our instructors. All of our instructors are CPR and First-Aid Certified and are experienced surfers and watermen. They each bring their own surf culture and stoke to our students through proven teaching techniques. We are stoked on our crew and can guarantee you will not find a more experienced group of surf instructors at any other surf school. Below is some information on just a few of our active instructors currently teaching Private Surf Lessons. During summer months our active staff jumps to up to 20 local surf instructors so check back regularly for updated info.

My name is Robby Brickell. I’m 25 years old and I’m from New York. I’ve been surfing for 18 years and I have 8 years teaching experience. I also teach with Surfer’s Healing, a non profit that provides free surf camps for kids with autism throughout the U.S., Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia. Other surf destinations I’ve been to include Indonesia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama. I’ve been surfing competitively since I was ten. I placed second in the ESA Northeast division, and competed on the USC surf team. I graduated from USC in 2016 with a B.A. in History. Surfing has taught me to be a steward of the environment. It has taught me how to handle physically intense situations calmly and effectively. It has brought me to some of the most beautiful places in the world and along the way I’ve met some amazing people. Surfing is my my passion and I love sharing the joy and lessons it taught me through campsurf.

Dana Tuttle is one stoked dude! We also think he may be part walrus… always a funny character, we’ll let him tell you a little bit about himself in his own words- “24 years young, born and raised in beautiful Hermosa Beach. Having grown up on the beach, its difficult to pinpoint an exact starting point as to when I first surfed. I’d like to think I’m a lifelong surfer thus far. The ocean has taken me all over the world from Indonesia to Nicaragua, as well as Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii to name a few more. I have been happily employed by Campsurf since 2010 and never looked back.”
